History

Background of the Yeepeng Lanna International Event

Yeepeng Lanna International Event at Tudongkhasathan Lanna (Sansai District) has been held annually since 1989.

In recent years, the Duangtawan Santiparp Foundation was invited to be part of the organizing committee, giving us the opportunity to discover the magnificence of Lanna culture. We experienced the peaceful atmosphere based on Buddhist practice, coexisting beautifully with the day-to-day activities and culture of the Lanna people.

The Duangtawan Santiparp Foundation wants members of the global community to learn about and experience this magnificent culture and atmosphere. Duangtawan Santiparp Foundation is joining hands with Tudongkhasathan Lanna (Sansai District), one of the sponsors with more than 20 years of experience in organizing events and the proprietor of the venue.

Yeepeng Lanna International Event has been conceptualized for the revitalization and preservation of traditional Lanna culture, highlighting the Yeepeng Festival in particular; the development of an admirable image for Chiang Mai and good impressions for foreign visitors attending the Yeepeng Lanna Event; the establishment of a harmonious coexistence for the local populace; and the creation of local job opportunities.

Duangtawan Santiparp Foundation

Founded in 2006, the Duangtawan Santiparp Foundation was established with the purpose of creating peace throughout the world regardless of one’s nationality, religion or creed. The headquarters is located at 59/118 Mooban Mueangthong, Khlong Kluea, Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, Thailand. Its core duties are promoting meditation, teaching ways to live happy lives, and encouraging a culture of morality.

Based on the concept that happiness lies within, the Duangtawan Santiparp Foundation places great importance on placing the mind at the center of the body, which is where peace can be found in every human being. Its location is at the 7th base of the mind, located two finger-widths above the navel. Once the mind experiences happiness as a result of this peace, everyone can live happily without dependence on external sources. Moreover, the Duangtawan Santiparp Foundation recognizes the importance of promoting morality in various regions because a moral culture is what upholds a society, maintains the purity of one’s mind and sustains a peaceful and happy coexistence. Duang Tawan Santipab Foundation foresees the significance in developing life quality of people, so we cooperate with Pandit Lanna Association to run a charity project that creates promising hill tribe leaders who are female graduates (Tawan Bon Doi Project)  in order to provide educational opportunity to female hill tribe youths which will help them from problems of deforestation, drug and human trafficking.

This November, Duangtawan Satiparp Foundation will collaborate with Tudongkhasathan Lanna to organize Yeepeng Lanna International Event, held on the 30th of November 2012 at Tudongkhasathan Lanna (Sansai District in Chiang Mai), in order to promote meditation and Lanna culture.
